SERET London set to screens the UK Premiere of Richard Gere’s NORMAN: THE MODERATE RISE AND TRAGIC FALL OF A NEW YORK FIXER

21 April 2017

SERET London: the London Israeli film and TV festival are thrilled to announce that the UK premiere of Sony Pictures’ Norman: The Moderate Rise and Tragic Fall of a New York Fixer will take place at this year’s Festival.

Starring Richard Gere, Lior Ashkenazi, Michael Sheen, Dan Stevens, Steve Buscemi and Charlotte Gainsbourg this film comes from the Academy Award-nominated US-born Israeli writer/director Joseph Cedar, and is the first major Israeli/American collaboration to hit the big screen, following the success of so many highly praised co-produced TV Series such as ‘Homeland’ and ‘Hostages’.

“Richard Gere's Political Fixer Drama Is a Career High” – Rolling Stones Magazine

“Like his (Cedar) last movie, the Oscar-nominated Footnote, it’s an intelligent, adult drama that moves like a comedy” AVClub.com

This is the comic and compassionate story of Norman Oppenheimer. Norman, played by Richard Gere, is a humble New York fixer in Cedar’s re-imagining of an archetypal tale that has played out in history and literature for thousands of years: the Court Jew.

Norman lives a lonely life in the margins of New York City power and money. Always on the lookout for someone willing to pay attention to him, Norman sets his sights on Micha Eshel (Ashkenazi), a charismatic Israeli politician alone in New York at a low point in his career. When Eshel becomes the Israeli Prime Minister three years later, Norman discovers that cashing in on his connection is more complicated than he thought.

Co-founders of SERET London – Patty Hochman, Odelia Haroush and Anat Koren commented “We are so excited to be screening the first showing of ‘Norman’ in the UK. This film is going to be huge, it received a great reception when it had its world premiere in New York last week, and we feel very proud to have it screened at SERET.”

SERET London showcases the very best in Israeli film and TV to audiences across the UK, and the Festival runs from 11-18th May. ‘Norman: The Moderate Rise and Tragic Fall of a New York Fixer’ will be screened on the 17th May at 8.00pm at The Phoenix Cinema East Finchley, followed by a Q&A with star Lior Ashkenazi and 18th May at 6.15pm, at the Everyman Maida Vale, followed by Q&A with Lior Ashkenazi

Tickets will be available at SERET.
