Lionsgate unveil the UK Quad Poster for Jonathan Teplitzky’s CHURCHILL featuring Brian Cox as Britain’s Iconic Prime Minister

20 April 2017

Ahead of its release in June, The Fan Carpet are delighted to bring you the official Quad Poster for Jonathan Teplitzky’s CHURCHILL, courtesy of Lionsgate!

CHURCHILL follows Britain’s iconic Prime Minister Winston Churchill in the days before the infamous D-Day landings in June 1944. As allied forces stand on the south coast of Britain, poised to invade Nazi-occupied Europe, they await Churchill’s decision on whether the invasion will actually move ahead. Fearful of repeating his mistakes from World War I on the beaches of Gallipoli, exhausted by years of war, plagued by depression and obsessed with fulfilling historical greatness, Churchill is also faced with constant criticism from his political opponents; General Eisenhower and Field Marshal Montgomery. Only the unflinching support of Churchill’s brilliant, unflappable wife Clementine can halt the Prime Minister’s physical and mental collapse and help lead him to greatness.

CHURCHILL is directed by Jonathan Teplitzky (The Railway Man, Marcella) and written by British historian and author Alex von Tunzelmann (Medici: Masters of Florence) in her feature debut. CHURCHILL is a unique, challenging and intimate portrait of the man behind the public figure, widely regarded as the Greatest Briton of all time. The film is produced by Nick Taussig and Paul Van Carter of Salon Pictures (Guv’nor, My Name is Lenny), along with Piers Tempest of Tempo Productions (The Journey, The Wife) and Claudia Bluemhuber of Silver Reel (Under the Skin, A Hologram for the King).

The cast of CHURCHILL is led by Brian Cox (The Bourne Supremacy, X-Men 2, Zodiac, War & Peace, Troy) as the legendary Winston Churchill, Miranda Richardson (Harry Potter, Testament of Youth) as the Prime Minister’s beloved wife and confident Clemmie Churchill, John Slattery (Mad Men, Captain America Civil War) as General Eisenhower, Supreme Commander of the Allied D-Day operations, and rising-star Ella Purnell (Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children, Tarzan) as Churchill’s secretary.

Rounding out the key cast is Richard Durden (Wolf Hall, From Paris With Love) as South African Field Marshal Jan Smuts, Julian Wadham (War Horse, The English Patient) as British military commander Field Marshal Montgomery, James Purefoy (Rome, The Following, High Rise) as King George VI, Danny Webb (Valkyrie, A Little Chaos) as Field Marshal Alan Brooke, George Anton (Marcella, The Sweeney) as Admiral Ramsay and Steve Cree (Brave) as Captain Stagg.

Behind the camera, the creative talent includes BAFTA-winning director of photography David Higgs (Red Riding Trilogy: 1983, RocknRolla), costume designer Bart Cariss, (My Name is Lenny, The Night Manager), production designer Chris Roope (War & Peace, Nativity), make-up & hair designer Cate Hall (The Man Who Knew Infinity, Spooks: The Greater Good), editor Chris Gill (28 Days Later, The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel), and composer Lorne Balfe (The LEGO Batman Movie, Marcella).

CHURCHILL was developed with the assistance of the BFI, with financing from Silver Reel, Lipsync and Creative Scotland.
