Hollywood Legend Michelle Pfeiffer goes from Catwoman to the Wasp aka Janet van Dyne in Peyton Reed’s ANT-MAN AND THE WASP

23 July 2017

Straight out of Hall H at San Diego Comic-Con International it has been announced that Hollywood legend Michelle Pfeiffer is joining Michael Douglas, Evangeline Lilly and Paul Rudd in Peyton Reed's eagerly anticipated MCU entry ANT-MAN AND THE WASP!

The announcement was made at the Marvel Studios Hall H Panel on July 22 that Pfeiffer is joining the cast as Janet van Dyne, the original hero known as The Wasp, who in Marvel Comics lore was a founding member of The Avengers.

Janet van Dyne is the mother of Hope (Evangeline Lilly) and the wife of the original Ant-Man Hank Pym (Michael Douglas), with whom she once partnered as a superhero team. In 2015’s incredible Ant-Man, Janet was seen briefly in her heyday stopping a missile and was presumed dead after shrinking so small to stop it.

In one of Ant-Man's post-credit sequences, Hank Pym revealed to his daughter Hope that he'd redesigned Janet's old Wasp costume for her.

Pfeiffer joins her Batman Returns co-star Michael Keaton who can be seen as the villainous Vulture in Spider-Man: Homecoming in making the jump from DC over to the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

As well as Pfeiffer, during the Comic-Con panel on Saturday, it was announced that Game of Thrones and Killjoys Actress Hannah John-Kamen will take on the villainous role of Ghost, a skilled sniper with the power of invisibility as well as Man of Steel and Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice’s Laurence Fishburne joining the cast as Bill Foster, who in Marvel Comics lore he is known as Black Goliath and Giant-Man for his ability to massively increase his size, making him the literal exact opposite of Ant-Man.

Rounding out the cast are Randall Park as S.H.I.E.L.D agent Jimmy Woo and the previously announced Walton Goggins as Sonny Burch.

ANT-MAN AND THE WASP is currently filming and is set for a June 29 release date next year.
