The Fan Carpet’s Marc Jason Ali shares his Experience at The Underground Cookery School to mark the release of FRANK & LOLA

Last night in celebration of the DVD and Digital release of Frank & Lola starring the incredible duo Imogen Poots and Michael Shannon, The Fan Carpet’s Marc Jason Ali was invited to the Underground Cookery School in Old Street to learn how to cook a 3 course meal from scratch!

Starting off the night with an introduction from Chef Carlos, we were then shown step by step how to do it by Chef Martin all the while having our drinks topped up.

First up we pressed and threaded our own Tagliatelle, which is rather messy, being that it is just 1 egg and flour in a bowl, once that was ready, as a dough, it was fed through the press to get it pasta thin and then cut into individual pasta strips and then hung to dry.

Next we prepared the Confit Cigar which was a cylinder of Duck rolled in pastry and glazed with egg followed by the preparing of the Breast of Gressingham Duck.

That was followed by preparing the dessert which was Chocolate Parfait, so we were shown how to cover an acetate strip with chocolate which was then wrapped around and filled.

It was a fun night, learning how to make pasta was great fun, and not as messy as I thought when presented with an egg in a bowl of flour, I’ve prepared Duck before but not the way we did it last night, and doing the Confit Cigar was interesting, I’ve done a similar thing to that before but hadn’t made Chocolate Parfait before, so that was a new experience.
