Community favourite Donald Glover cast as the Iconic Rogue Lando Calrissian alongside Alden Ehrenreich in Han Solo

After months of speculation, it has been announced by Directing duo Phil Lord and Christopher Miller that Community favourite Donald Glover has joined the forthcoming Han Solo standalone outing as Lando Calrissian.

Glover has been cast as the suave Lando opposite Alden Ehrenreich as the titular Han Solo.

"We're so lucky to have an artist as talented as Donald join us. These are big shoes to fill, and an even bigger cape, and this one fits him perfectly, which will save us money on alterations. Also, we'd like to publicly apologise to Donald for ruining Comic-Con for him forever." said Lord and Miller.

According to the official Star Wars website we'll see "Lando in his formative years as a scoundrel on the rise in the galaxy's underworld.”

The charming rogue was played by Hollywood icon Billy Dee Williams in both The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi.

Written by The Empire Strikes Back scribe Lawrence Kasdan, it is expected that Han’s trusted Wookiee co-pilot Chewbacca will also be a long for the ride and talking about the film, Kasdan revealed it won’t be a traditional origin story telling Empire "It will not be like here is where he was born and this is how he was raised, I think what it will be is what was he like ten years earlier, you know maybe a little earlier you'll get a glimpse but... what formed the person we meet in the cantina?
