"does what it sets out to do; offer up an option for a lighthearted watch"

Second Act is a feel good film which elevates your mood, just in time for the 'January Blues' to wind down.
The film tells the story of Maya, an 'overworked and unpaid' supermarket worker who's life is suddenly turn upside down after she is offered her dream job. Of course, not all is as it seems to be, and we discover that this offer comes with much more than she expected.

Peter Segal's direction gives the film a familiar and warm tone, albeit expected plot turns and somewhat clichéd characters.

The cast is splendid, with Jennifer Lopez (Maya) and Milo Ventimiglia (Trey) taking the lead roles. It includes a strong female cast including Vanessa Hudgens (Zoe) and Leah Remini (Joan), who, as usual, is on impeccable comedic form.
