"A great heist movie which does just what it says on the tin - thrills and entertains"

Den of Thieves is the action film which will help you beat your January blues and start February with a bang.

It is an all-male, take on the heist movie, with plenty of explosions, gun toting and flashy scenes for the action seekers.

Gerald Butler (Big Nick) plays the no nonsense, rugged, hard liquor drinking, leader of the Los Angeles special unit department and Pablo Schreiber (Merriman) plays the highly intelligent, ex-army, thug leader of a bank robbing gang. Alpha male stereotypes galore indeed, but both these actors give such stand out, credible performances you find yourself going along with the obvious roles and fully enjoying them.

The film has enough well written scenes and high octane action to keep you engaged throughout, albeit a few cliché genre sequences like the obligatory strip club scene and the scene which sees the police intimidating the thug to get information.

Director Christian Gudegast does a swell job of keeping a modern audience, arguably desensitised to such violence and high impact sequences, thrilled to be taken on the ride and pleasantly surprised at the end of the film.
