THEY JUST NEEDED TO SURVIVE ONE MORE HOUR: Evolutionary Films Presents ELEVEN – THE LAST DAYS OF THE FIRST WORLD WAR

02 November 2018

BASED ON EVENTS FROM THE LAST DAY OF WWI

Following the last hours of the Great War, ‘ELEVEN’ touches upon those final moments which went down in history.

Directed by Sean Cronin, written and co-directed by Rock Salt, ELEVEN follows Sergeant Archie Jones and his comrades as they go over the top one last time. All they had to survive was one more hour but, as eleven o’clock approaches, Archie, badly wounded, slips between two worlds. One is filled with the familiar sounds and smells of death, the other is of warm sunshine, a soft embrace and the innocent smile of a child. When all seems lost, help is offered from an unexpected hand.

Written and co-directed by Rock Salt (King Arthur - Legend of the Sword, Suspicion) alongside director Sean Cronin, the film follows events on the last day of the great war up to the conflict’s end at 11 o’clock on November the 11th 1918.

Just moments before the end of hostilities, a foolhardy order ricochets through the front- line trench.

Sergeant Archie Jones and his pals find themselves going over the top one last time. All they had to do was wait just one more hour.

As eleven o'clock approaches, Archie, badly wounded, slips between two worlds. One filled with the familiar sounds and smells of death, the other of warm sunshine, a soft embrace and the innocent smile of a child. When all seems lost help is offered from an unexpected hand.

Starring Richard Dee Roberts, Sean Cronin, Joe Bryant, Jo Stone- Fewings and Julian Gamm, ELEVEN, a story of not only war but the love that binds soldiers together, will receive its World Premiere at 10am on Saturday 10th November at London Piccadilly’s Picturehouse Central. It will then be available to pre-order from 11am on Sunday 11th November and later available to purchase on Digital Download from on Monday 19th November.

Director Sean Cronin notes “I was first drawn to this wonderful screenplay as my great grandfather fought and died in the Great War, so it was already a subject close to my heart. I was compelled by the story’s unique timeline, based as it is on the last two hours of the war, the folly of that final order to ‘go over the top’ one last time and its terrible consequences. Even after the catastrophe of that final push, our story immerses us in the beauty of love, courage, reconciliation and understanding that brings us to the finale of this heart felt and essential story, a story that just had to be brought to big screen.”

Released by Evolutionary Films, ELEVEN stars Richard Dee Roberts, Joe Stone-Fewings (The Crown, Trust), Sean Cronin, Rory Witton and Sarina Taylor.

ELEVEN will be released on Digital Download on all major platforms in the UK on Monday 19th November and is available to pre-order from Sunday 11th November.
