Beauty and the Beast tops the list as most redeemed film

Compare the Market’s cinema offering, Meerkat Movies – which treats customers to 2-for-1 cinema tickets every Tuesday or Wednesday for a whole year – is today celebrating the huge achievement of 10 million redemptions, just three years after launching.

With 20 million cinema-goers benefiting from the offer, the reward scheme has saved the UK over £74,900,000[1] and has helped film fans see some of the biggest blockbusters for less, including Black Panther, films from the Star Wars franchise and Bridget Jones’s Baby. Topping the list of most popular films is Beauty and the Beast, where 222,363 Meerkat Movies members redeemed their 2-for- 1 codes to take a friend or family member to see the blockbuster hit last year. Also paving the way for the British film industry were Spectre and Dunkirk, coming in second and third respectively.

The landmark 10 millionth redemption was made at Vue in Livingston, where the customer took advantage of their 2-for-1 tickets to watch Love, Simon on the big screen. This achievement marks yet another milestone for the cinema reward, with the Meerkat Movies app surpassing three million downloads earlier this year. The dynamic app allows users to watch trailers and get information on the newest films, search for their nearest cinema, check local show times, and of course – access their Meerkat Movies 2-for-1 redemption code.
