Returning to the Barden Bellas World: A Conversation with Chrissie Fit for the Home Entertainment Release of PITCH PERFECT 3

01 May 2018

Now graduated from college and out in the real world where it takes more than a cappella to get by, the Bellas return in Pitch Perfect 3, the next chapter in the beloved series that has taken in more than $400 million at the global box office.

After the highs of winning the World Championships, the Bellas find themselves split apart and discovering there aren’t job prospects for making music with your mouth. But when they get the chance to reunite for an overseas USO tour, this group of awesome nerds will come together to make some music, and some questionable decisions, one last time.

Anna Kendrick, Rebel Wilson, Hailee Steinfeld, Brittany Snow, Anna Camp, Hana Mae Lee, Ester Dean, Alexis Knapp, Chrissie Fit, Kelley Jakle, Shelley Regner, Elizabeth Banks and John Michael Higgins all return and are joined by additions including John Lithgow and Ruby Rose. Pitch Perfect 3 is again produced by Paul Brooks of Gold Circle Entertainment and Max Handelman & Elizabeth Banks of Brownstone Productions, and is directed by Trish Sie (Step Up All In).

In our interview, Chrissie tells The Fan Carpet’s Marc Jason Ali what it was like returning to the franchise, working with Trish Sie and what she has coming up...

Congratulations with the film first of all, I watched it this afternoon. How did it feel to come back and be with the girls for what looks to be the final one, it’s a great way to send off?

Thank you. I mean we had such a great, we’ve all really great friends and so coming back and doing this third one was kind of a joy, but it was bittersweet, I’m not gonna lie; especially when it’s possibly the last one.

So we made a pact early on when we where rehearsing during our Bella Bootcamp to have fun filming but also create memories with each other while we where there in Atlanta, and we did that we had the best time and I can say that I have friends forever now with the Bellas.

Yeah it definitely shows on screen the camaraderie, especially during the out-takes that they show at the end of the film while the credits are playing, it just shows that you’re all very close and you’ve got friends for life there. So obviously, this one we had Trish Sie as the director, how was it welcoming her and working with her?

Yeah it was wonderful working with Trish, she comes from a dance background as well, she did a really kind of brilliant ‘OK Go’ music video with the treadmills, her brain works in a really kind of cool and interesting way and she’s also very laid back and gave us a kind of freedom to improv, to enjoy this time together working on set too.

Trish was lovely she’s such a beautiful soul and human and we felt she was a wonderful addition to the Pitch Perfect family for sure.

Yeah great. Obviously with this one being a whole big USO tour, did you see that this was the way the story would go and are you happy with the way it turned out?

Yeah yeah, I think it was a really clever way to bring the Bellas back together and also really wonderful for us to be able to not only honour the men and women who risk their lives every day for our country but there where some actual military people on set as extras, and we got to know them and their families and some of those crazy jets and it felt like a Top Gun music video (laughs).

They where really cool and I think it was really great, we had a blast doing it and it kind of gave meaning to us getting together and not just to compete but to entertain the troops and that was cool.

I also loved that it was international; there’s a point where we are in Spain and then in Italy.
