Reese Witherspoon set to play Tinker Bell in Disney’s Tink
With turning animated classics into live action feature films all the rage right now at Disney, it has emerged that Reese Witherspoon is to play Tinker Bell in Tink, a new retelling of the story of Peter Pan’s mischievous fairy companion.
Tinker Bell is the latest in a plethora of Disney creations to get the live action treatment, following in the footsteps of Maleficent, Cinderella, The Jungle Book, Beauty and the Beast and Dumbo.
The Hollywood Reporter report that Witherspoon will also produce the feature alongside Bruna Papandrea, her partner at production banner Pacific Standard with Finding Dory scribe Victoria Strouse is currently penning the script however, there is no Director on board the project.
It is believed that Tink will follow in the footsteps of the aforementioned Maleficent, Disney's Sleeping Beauty spin-off that portrayed the untold story of the lead character.
The House of Mouse are currently having success with Tinker Bell in the Pixie Hollow animated adventures, the latest being Tinker Bell and the Legend of the NeverBeast voiced by Mae Whitman and the character has been given the live action treatment in ABC’s Once Upon a Time portrayed by Rose McIver.
Witherspoon will next be seen alongside Sofía Vergara in Anne Fletcher’s Hot Pursuit on July 31.
