Ol Parker’s Musical Favourite MAMMA MIA! HERE WE GO AGAIN enjoys a second week at Number 1 on The Official Film Chart

14 December 2018

The Meg makes a splash as the highest new entry on digital downloads only

Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again holds on for a second week at Number 1 on the Official Film Chart. The hit musical sequel faced a showdown with last week’s highest new entry, Marvel’s Ant-Man And The Wasp, which rises one place to 2.

Rebounding to its previous peak of Number 3 is Mission: Impossible – Fallout, just ahead of the year’s biggest seller to date, The Greatest Showman at Number 4. Swooping 12 spots up the chart following its release on disc is Hotel Transylvania 3: A Monster Vacation at Number 5.

This week’s highest new entry comes with added bite as The Meg makes a splash at Number 6 on downloads alone. The megashark movie stars Jason Statham as a rescue diver who reluctantly goes back into the water to face the prehistoric beast.

Charming Jim Carrey Christmas classic The Grinch lands at Number 7, while Incredibles 2 retreats four places to Number 8; Will Ferrell’s festive comedy Elf hops down a peg to Number 9, landing just ahead of previous Film Chart Number 1 holder Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom, which is still alive and kicking at Number 10.

The Official Film Chart is unveiled each Wednesday and is the subject of a Top 10 Official Film Chart online show, published on OfficialCharts.com and available for media syndication. The show counts down the top 10 biggest selling movies on disc and download of the week and also includes bonus “coming soon” content for film lovers.

This week’s Official Film Chart online show features a teaser of comedy caper The Spy Who Dumped Me. Starring Mila Kunis and Kate McKinnon, the film is available to download from December 15 and on disc from December 26.
