Nat Wolff (THE FAULT IN OUR STARS, DEATH NOTE, KILL TEAM) is set to star in fantasy adventure MORTAL, to be directed by Norwegian filmmaker Andre Øvredal (THE AUTOPSY OF JANE DOE, TROLLHUNTER), it was announced today by producers Nordisk Film’s John Einar Hagen, Automatik’s Brian Kavanaugh-Jones and 42’s Ben Pugh and Rory Aitken.

Nordisk Film and Zefyr Media Fund are financing the project, with production set to begin in the west coast of Norway in June.

IM Global is handling international sales on the feature film at the ongoing Cannes Film Market. Nordisk Film will distribute the film in the Nordic countries. WME is handling US sales.

Written by Øvredal, Norman Lesperance and Geoff Bussetil, the film is a coming of age, origins story of a young man (Wolff) discovering he has God like powers based on ancient Norwegian mythology.

42 and IM Global, who is also handling international sales on MORTAL, produced Andre Øvredal’s latest film THE AUTOPSY OF JANE DOE, which was a worldwide cult festival hit following its world premiere at the 2016 Toronto International Film Festival and was released in the US earlier this year with a UK digital release to follow by Lionsgate in June.

Øvredal will executive produce alongside Henrik Zein, Aage Aaberge, Malene Ehlers, Joshua Horsfield and Aron Coleite.

“Nat Wolff is a talented young actor who has demonstrated tremendous range in his roles to date with MORTAL offering him the perfect vehicle to showcase his abilities. Andre is a visionary director who has written a truly immersive, epic tale which takes advantage of Norway’s stunning landscapes and we can’t wait to see him in action on set,” said Nordisk Film’s John Einar Hagen, Automatik’s Brian Kavanaugh-Jones and 42’s Ben Pugh.

Nat Wolff co-starred in 20th Century Fox’s THE FAULT IN OUR STARS opposite Shailene Woodley and Ansel Elgort which made over $300 million at the worldwide box office. He will next be seen in the comedy HOME AGAIN, produced by Nancy Meyers with Reese Witherspoon and Michael Sheen due to be released in September. His other credits include PAPER TOWNS with Cara Delevingne, THE INTERN co-starring Robert De Niro and Anne Hathaway and Paul Weitz’ GRANDMA.
