American actor probably best known, thus far, for his role on Nip/Tuck as Matt McNamara.
John’s parents divorced when he was 3 years old. He and his sister, spent time with both parents growing up.
He was born in Hyden, Kentucky, United States. Before becoming an actor, Hensley worked on a horse ranch in Wyoming.
Though always drawn to storytelling, Hensley did not intend to act before he auditioned for a college play. Although he was not cast, he was hooked. Immersing himself in the school’s theatre community, he formed an improv group with a few other students. He eventually decided to move to New York, where he met his future manager.
Hensley’s first major role was playing Luke Madigan on the TV series Madigan Men. His next television role was Gabriel Bowman on the series Witchblade. Currently, Hensley portrays Matt McNamara on the FX drama Nip/Tuck. His film appearances have included Peoples, Fifty Pills, “Teeth”, and “Shutter”.
