"it will have you singing along and dancing in the aisles"

Walking on Sunshine is a 2014 musical rom-com featuring many hit songs of the 80's. The basic summary of the plot is Maddie (Annabel Scholey) is organising her wedding to Raf (Giulio Berruti), not realising Raf was her sister Taylor's (Hannah Arterton) former holiday romance.

Many top 80's hits such as Walking on Sunshine, Holiday, Venus, How Will I Know, Girls Just Wanna Have Fun etc. are included in the film, and it features singing sensation Leona Lewis in her first film role. I found the film to be a very good, lighthearted comedy. Its target audience would be fans of films of such films as Mamma Mia, etc. as the plot line is very cheesy - unrealistic but entertaining none the less. The scenery is very bright and beautiful giving it a good holiday feel. Although the plot line is fairly basic, it ticks all the right boxes for a feel good escapism film.

The Tomato Festival scene was one of my favourite scenes during the film, it highlighted the lighthearted-ness of the film  showing the characters genuinely happy and care-free just having a good time, it was also where the Katrina and the Waves classic Walking on Sunshine was played.

As a fan of 80's music and light hearted comedies, I found the film highly enjoyable, admittedly the acting isn't amazing but it kept me entertained from start to finish and while the plot is fairly predictable, it is good escapism from general day to day stresses. The singing was fairly good, however since the majority of the cast are known for their acting, it does show, but don't let that deter you, I highly recommend this for fans of films like Mammma Mia, it will have you singing along and dancing in the aisles!
