"It may not be the incredible CGI designs of Pixar, but it services the storyline and thoroughly entertained"

Most fans of The Nightmare Before Christmas are interested in seeing Igor, its the dark humour we crave around Halloween, not the typical safe humour used in most children's films. This film's message was substantial in that it demonstrated several themes from stereotypes - something that should be thrown out of the window and secondly, people have different abilities - however the closing scene of "I can see clearly now" sang by blind orphans did shock me somewhat.

There was some intensity in the film - particularly one of the main characters turning on "the evil", which can be frightening and perhaps confusing to small children? Overall, the voice acting in the film is more than adequate. In the title role, John Cusack is able to take a step back from the sarcastic and world-weary roles he's given in the past and instead give Igor an enthusiastic but nervous quality. He makes Igor the kind of unpopular kid from school that everyone was or knew, but with his head in the clouds and dreaming of great things.

It may not be the incredible CGI designs of Pixar, but it services the storyline and thoroughly entertained me on my Sunday afternoon.
