SYNOPSIS

From director Srdjan Spasojevic comes a harrowing vision of human madness and cruelty. Both extreme and extremely controversial, A Serbian Film has already hit the headlines in the UK after it was banned from playing the FrightFest film festival and then could only secure a certificate from the BBFC after four minutes were cut from the running time.

The plot sees porn actor Miloš lured out of retirement for one last shoot, a bumper pay day that will set him and his young family up for life. However his new movie seems a strange one, with his enigmatic benefactor Vukmir neither showing him a script or explaining what his role will entail.

He finds out soon enough, with the situations Miloš finds himself placed in leaving him disturbed and distressed. Feeling that the film shoot is getting out of hand, he decides to walk away – something that Vukmir has no intention of letting him do. Miloš is pulled back into Vukmir’s hell, only deeper that ever before, as he first transgresses in ways he never previously thought possible, before having to face up to the ruination of everything of any value to him.

An example of 21st century cinema in its toughest and rawest form, A Serbian Film contains scenes of graphic, sexual violence that viewers may find disturbing. Strictly for over-18s only.
