SYNOPSIS

45 Years. Writer-director Andrew Haigh’s 45 YEARS – a double prize winner at the Berlin Film Festival (Best Actor/Tom Courtenay and Best Actress/Charlotte Rampling) – will open across the UK on August 28, released by Curzon Artificial Eye.

Produced by Tristan Goligher, this is Andrew Haigh’s third feature after the multi award-winning WEEKEND and GREEK PETE. Haigh is currently the Executive Producer on the HBO show LOOKING, for which he also writes and directs multiple episodes.

Follow the life of Kate Mercer (Charlotte Rampling) during the five days leading up to her forty-fifth wedding anniversary. Party plans are going well, until a letter arrives for her husband (Tom Courtenay) informing him that the body of his first love has been found frozen in the icy glaciers of the Swiss Alps. As their anniversary celebrations grow closer, they delve further into their past, leaving their future in question.

45 YEARS presents a new take on relationships, old age, forgiveness and jealousy, from a writer/director with a unique insight into relationships. Andrew Haigh’s screenplay is adapted from David Constantine’s short story IN ANOTHER COUNTRY.
