The Fan Carpet’s Jessen Aroonachellum Shares his Thoughts on the Brand New Marvel Avengers S.T.A.T.I.O.N at ExCel London

08 December 2018

Become an Agent of S.H.I.E.L.D. at the Marvel Avengers S.T.A.T.I.O.N at ExCel London

As you enter the UK operations based in London, known as the Science Training and Tactical Intelligence Operative Network aka S.T.A.T.I.O.N. with the objective of becoming an agent of Strategic Homeland Intervention, Enforcement and Logistics Division aka S.H.I.E.L.D. you are greeted by Maria Hill (Cobie Smulders).

Maria Hill greets you via a large TV screens as you enter the immersive experience where a host of agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. guiding you throughout the experience. First off you enter the Tony Stark/Iron Man (Robert Downey Jr) section, where you get an up close look at all the difference Iron Man armours including the impressive Hulk Buster. There are displays giving details of each member of the Avengers. You also, have a interactive computer attraction where you can see a monitor and be Iron Man and shoot the bad guys.

The next section is the Bruce Banner/ Hulk (Mark Ruffalo) where you can see his laboratory and Hulk information. You also have another interactive attraction where you mirror The Hulk's movements and actions.

The following section is the Steve Rogers/ Captain America (Chris Evans) and T'Challa/ Black Panther (Chadwick Boseman), where you can have your picture taken with Cap’s Shield and his motorbike. You also have Cap’s costume/ uniform on display and his actual Shield. Also, there are screens talking about Steve Rogers and the Super Soldier Serum that made Steve Rogers into Captain America. Within the Black Panther bit you have Kimoyo Beads, a piece of advanced communication technology developed and used in the film, on display as well is Black Panther's iconic cowl.

The next section is Thor’s one which has information about Asgard and all the other realms. On display is the history and rivalry between Thor (Chris Hemsworth) and Loki (Tom Hiddleston), with Thor’s costume and hammer on display. An interactive installation is Mjölnir, where you can attempt to see if you are worthy of it (I was not).

The next section is the rest of the Avengers, Wasp/ Hope Van Dyne (Evangeline Lilly), Ant-Man/ Scott Lang (Paul Rudd), Hawkeye/ Clint Barton (Jeremy Renner), War Machine/ James "Rhodey" Rhodes (Don Cheadle), Black Widow/ Natasha Romanova (Scarlett Johansson), Falcon /Sam Wilson (Anthony Mackie) and Vision (Paul Bettany). Same with the previous sections, they have props and displays describing the characters and histories.

The last section has all the main villains up to the film, Avengers: Age of Ultron, and a display with all the Infinity Stones, life size Chitauri invader figures from the Avengers Assemble (the first Avengers film), the remains of Ultron (James Spader) and Tony Stark’s arc reactor from the first Iron Man film. Also, an image of Thanos (Josh Brolin).

All in all, this is fun and entertaining; you find out a lot about the Avengers and you get to see the props and there are some nice interactive activities to do whilst you are there. It would have been nice to see maybe one or two more cast members be used to talk to guest or maybe other actors/ lookalike to be the characters but for Marvel fans of all ages this will be a treat and a marvellous experience!
