The countdown begins to the new trailer of The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey

The countdown has begun to the release of the new trailer for Peter Jackson's Martin Freeman starring The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey.

Jackson made the announcement via an exclusive video message for fans on his Facebook page, explaining that in honour of the Tolkien Week celebrations for the 75th anniversary of The Hobbit, a brand new trailer for the first film in the trilogy would be released on Wednesday September 19!

The first part of the trilogy entitled The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey finally comes to cinemas on December 14 and features a stellar cast including Benedict Cumberbatch, Elijah Wood, Evangeline Lilly, Luke Evans, Cate Blanchett, Hugo Weaving, Orlando Bloom, Richard Armitage, Ian McKellen, Andy Serkis, Christopher Lee, Lee Pace, Billy Connolly, Ian Holm, James Nesbitt, Barry Humphries, Graham McTavish and Stephen Fry with the second and third parts titled The Desolation of Smaug and There and Back Again released on December 13 next year and July 18 2014 respectively.

The adventure of The Hobbit follows the journey of title character Bilbo Baggins (Freeman), who is swept into an epic quest to reclaim the lost Dwarf Kingdom of Erebor from the fearsome dragon Smaug.
