Shia LaBeouf wants to be ballsier
Shia LaBeouf is hoping to land some grittier roles. He is turning his back on Hollywood blockbusters - because he's desperate to show off his acting abilities in "grittier" movies.
The actor is the star of the hit Transformers franchise and is expected to reprise his role in a third instalment, but admits his dream part would be as troubled teen Holden Caulfield in a big-screen adaptation of The Catcher in the Rye.
He tells FHM magazine, "I really like all that beatnik culture, I think it would be fun, just for my family, and the way that I was raised. I don't know if I'm interested in the blockbuster whimsical stuff any more - I want to be a little ballsier; balls, blood and death, kind of thing... Not outrageously so, just something a little grittier, with a little more meat to chew on."
The 23-year-old added: "Drinking is s****y for me, I don't know how to compose myself... I don't know how to drink like a gentleman. When I drink, I get crazy. I have never had a beer because I like the taste of beer. I always had a beer to get f***ed up."
Shia recently insisted he and girlfriend Carey Mulligan (whom he met while filming Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps alongside Michael Douglas) aren't "fame whores".
“Neither one of us are fame whores. It works out. It’s not like we’re the premiere couple — we’re not the red carpet king and queen.”
“She’s an unbelievably thought-provoking actress, the most talented actress I’ve met in my life, by leaps and bounds,” he said last month.
