Ricky Gervais tells kids not to become Prime Minister

In the recent live MySpace web chat with comedians Ricky Gervais and Stephen Merchant, Ricky revealed he would never take on the role of Prime Minister proclaiming it to be a ‘thankless task'. He also said that if he were to be Prime Minister he would age ten years within his first year in office: ‘I'd immediately go grey before my years'.

Ricky delivered his advice to any youngsters thinking of heading into politics, ‘kids, do not become Prime Minister.' He also confessed to spoiling his ballot paper previously when he dropped food on it ‘I've done that by accident.. just cause I was eating'.

Ricky and Stephen also discussed retirement from the industry. Ricky stated that he would probably retire before Stephen, ‘I started late l suppose that's why I've been going crazy and probably had my fingers in more pies (than Stephen)'. Ricky continued that he didn't get a ‘proper' job until he was 28.

Currently promoting their new film, Cemetery Junction, Stephen looked shocked by Ricky's sausage-related binging confession. ‘The two days before I went healthy I had 11 sausages...I couldn't stop eating them, I felt really ill, really bad and I had to lay there for a couple of hours.....like a snake just trying to digest it...It was just after Christmas, a few days before I thought right, that's ridiculous. I think I hit 14 stone....I just got fatter from 29.. I've been putting on weight.' Now committed to a healthier lifestyle, Ricky stated he had lost an impressive 14 pounds since then turning ‘his life round at the last minute'.

Ricky and Stephen also talked about their next TV project, ‘we're writing a sitcom together, written and directed by us and it's called Life's Too Short and it features Warwick Davis. It's a cross between Extras and Curb your Enthusiasm and One Foot in the Grave but with a dwarf. That is out and out funny'.
