Rebecca Zlotowski’s PLANETARIUM Starring Natalie Portman and Lily-Rose Depp Arrives On DVD & VOD from Vision Films

23 October 2017

Following its theatrical release in August, the mysterious, chilling and visually stunning French and English-language drama “Planetarium” starring Oscar-winner Natalie Portman alongside Lily-Rose Depp and Emmanuel Salinger is OUT NOW on VOD, courtesy of Vision Films. The film will also release on DVD this week on October 24th.

Written and directed by Rebecca Zlotowski, “Planetarium” is the story of two sisters set in Paris in the late 30’s, Laura Barlow (Natalie Portman) and Kate Barlow (Lily-Rose Depp), who are believed to possess the supernatural ability to connect with ghosts. They meet a visionary Jewish French producer, Andre Korben, (Emmanuel Salinger) who is fascinated by their supernatural gift and hires them to shoot an ambitious experimental film. What they perceive as a perfect opportunity to gain recognition, soon spirals into a game of hidden agendas that tests human limits, social value, and contains themes of anti-Semitism as Korben is ultimately scrutinized by his colleagues for his Jewish heritage.

Natalie Portman comments “I had been wanting to work with Rebecca Zlotowski for a long time. I knew her before she was a filmmaker; we were together on the day she received funding for her first film, Dear Prudence. It was very moving to watch her become a filmmaker in person!”

Lily-Rose Depp adds “What made me want to play in Planetarium was a mixture of the script, my meeting with Rebecca Zlotowski, and the closeness I felt to the character. It was the first time I’d read a script in French. I studied in English, so when it comes to reading, it’s more my culture."

Planetarium” was produced by Frédéric Jouve for Les Films Velvet and co-produced by Les Films du Fleuve, Kinology, France 3 Cinéma, Proximus and RTBF (Télévision belge). The cinematography is by George Lechaptois with Julien Lacheray editing and original music by Robin Coudert. The original screenplay is by Rebecca Zlotowski and Robin Campillo. It is the third feature film for French director Rebecca Zlotowski, whose directorial debut “Belle Epine” won the Prix Louis Delluc and Critics Award for Best First Feature Film at Cannes Critic’s Week in 2010. Her second feature “Grand Central” was selected at the Un Certain Regard in Cannes.
