Pinewood’s expansion plan rejected
Pinewood Studio's £200 million extension plan has been dealt a blow after its application was rejected.
The British film studio's ambitious re-development plan entitled Project Pinewood would have seen replica streets of New York, Paris and Venice as well as 1,500 homes, school, theatres, cinemas and sports facilities being built.
However, South Buckinghamshire council have rejected the plans because of enviromental concerns.
Chairman of the planning committee, Councillor Jacquetta Lowen-Cooper, said, "It would also have set a precedent thus potentially undermining the council's future ability to resist inappropriate green belt developments elsewhere.
"However, it is also important to stress that this decision should not be seen as anti-Pinewood."
The studio is now reviewing the decision.
