GROSVENOR FILM FESTIVAL KICKS OFF
Summer has begun and The Nomad Cinema opens its gates with six nights at Grosvenor Square over the next two weeks as part of The Grosvenor Film Festival. Kicking off with Stephen King’s classic Stand By Me followed by the quintessential 80s high school drama The Breakfast Club; awkward comedy gold - Napoleon Dynamite; Audrey Hepburn classic - Breakfast at Tiffany’s , Baz Luhrmann’s Romeo + Juliet and recent jazz smash-hit Whiplash for a special event in association with Nomad partner Jazz FM with a performance by the Neon Saints Brass Band to enhance and celebrate the ethos of the film. We’ll also be celebrating 100 years of Technicolor who won an Oscar for Best Sound Mixing with their work on this incredible film.

The two ‘Breakfast’ screenings are the perfect opportunity for audiences to support Foodbank by bringing along any breakfast items (non-perishables) to donate. The Foodbank is based at Westminster Chapel and provides three days’-worth of nutritionally balanced food to residents in the Borough of Westminster experiencing financial crisis, through a voucher scheme. It is part of a nationwide network of Foodbanks overseen and supported by the Trussell Trust (through training and resources). So bring along any cereal, baked beans, jams and condiments, tea, coffee or melba toast to donate your breakfast to those less fortunate. All non-perishable food and toiletries are welcome. Famed secret London café chain The Breakfast Club are aptly involved and are leading the way with donations by contributing some of their very own delicious Granola. Yum.

STREET FOOD IS FLAVOUR OF THE SUMMER
As the Nomad roams around London carting its wagon of wonders with its mobile projector and backpack of movie magic, it also brings along some of the finest street food and pop-up bars London has to offer. A growing highlight of every summer season, the Street Food accompaniment has become almost as important as the film. This year the Nomad is excited to be working with Madame Gautier – a family-run business offering freshly prepared French regional food; independent spirits and passionate pioneers of London’s distilling revival Sipsmith, ATE in their lovely vintage Citroen H van, serving up free range meats and colourful, fresh ingredients; Engine Hot Dogs serving up American-style hotdogs from a vintage fire truck, The Cheese Truck who celebrate all that is great about British Cheese, serving everything from signature grilled cheese sandwiches to gooey fondant fries; The Bell & Brisket - championing the classic, old fashioned combination of salt beef, pickles & mustard, served street food style; husband and wife team Cheeky Burger serving restaurant quality gourmet burgers; Benugo - the delicious high street café; Bovingdons – the resident caterer for Fulham Palace; the innovative event caterers Food Show; Mosimann’s restaurant will be offering food or pre-booked picnics; Meantime Tasting Rooms which are heaven on earth for craft beer lovers; Cream & Country – the Ice Cream connoisseurs who create deliciously British flavours from totally natural ingredients – their flavours include Cream Tea, Salted Caramel, New Forest Gateau, Rhubarb & Stem Ginger; and LIC – short for Love Iced Cocktails and are literally frozen Mojitos and Piña Coladas in ice lolly form. So while picnics are welcome, rumbling tummies can be avoided by the delicious food on offer before the film starts.
