With the release of Couples Retreat in cinemas now, it got us thinking how much we'd love to be lying on a beach sipping on a cocktail.  

Cocktails are much like films - they're not all to everyone's taste, so we're going to take a look at some new and upcoming film releases that would make for some great cocktail classics. 

Couples Retreat Synopsis

Vince Vaughn, Jason Bateman, Jon Favreau, Malin Ackerman, Kristin Davis, Kristen Bell and Faizon Love star in Universal Pictures' upcoming comedy Couples Retreat.  Based on an original idea of Vaughn's, the comedy follows four Midwestern couples who embark on a journey to a tropical island resort.  While one of the couples is there to work on their marriage, the other three set out to jet ski, spa and enjoy some fun in the sun.  They soon discover that participation in the resort's couples therapy is not optional.  Suddenly, their group-rate vacation comes at a price.  What follows is a hilarious look at real world problems faced by all couples. 

Sex on The Beach (Couples Retreat)

A tropical treat that reminds us of holidays, honeymoons and less genteel pastimes... 

What you need...

  • 1 1/2 oz. Schnapps, peach
  • 1 1/2 oz. Vodka
  • 2 oz. Cranberry Juice
  • 2 oz. Orange Juice
  • 2 oz. Pineapple Juice

What to do....

Put all the ingredients into a cocktail shaker add some ice, shake it together and strain into a glass filled with ice.

I want your Bloody Mary/The Edward Cullen/Bloody Scary (Twilight: New Moon)

A bloody treat that people can't seem to get enough of.

What you need...

  • 1 1/2 oz. Vodka
  • 1 dash Lemon Juice
  • 3 oz. Tomato Juice
  • 1 wedge Lime
  • 2-3 drops Tabasco Sauce
  • 1/2 tsp. Worcestershire Sauce

What to do...

Shake all the ingredients in a shaker with some ice. Strain into a tall glass over more ice, then add a wedge of tomato, and salt and pepper if desired.

The Molotov/ Molotov the bloody doors off/ The Big Man (Harry Brown): 

An absolute classic but, be warned it fights back. 

What you need...

  • 2/3 oz. Chartreuse, green
  • 1/3 oz. Port, ruby

What to do...

Pour some Chartreuse into a shot glass and layer the Port on top. Then place drink on a table in front of you and set it alight.

Brain Haemorrhage/Brain Eater/ Baileys & Brains (Zombieland):

A concoction of all sorts that some may find hard to stomach.

What you need...

  • 1 oz. Peach Schnapps
  • 1 tsp. Bailey's Irish Cream
  • 2 drops Grenadine

What to do...

Pour the Peach Schnapps into a large shot glass then slowly add some Bailey's top with some grenadine.

A Bit of Bunny & The Bully  (Bunny & The Bull)

A strange mix that will make you feel warm inside

What you need...

  • ¾ Amaretto
  • ¾ Cognac
  • ¾ Baileys Irish cream
  • ¾ Creme de cacao dark
  • 1 scoop of chocolate ice cream

What to do...

Mix all the contents together and then blend in 1 part light cream and 1 part chocolate ice cream and serve.
