Kevin Feige explains Ant-Man’s absence in Avengers Assemble

17 April 2012

With the release of the hotly anticipated superhero team up Avengers Assemble just over a week away, Kevin Feige has explained why founding member Ant-Man has been excluded from the line-up.

Speaking to Toronto Sun, Marvel's president of production revealed that Ant-Man would have been on the roster if Edgar Wright's solo Ant-Man had been completed in time explaining

"Edgar's still working on that project, and it's closer than ever, but it's been eight years we've been working with him, and we finally decided we couldn't keep putting more people in. If Ant-Man had come out four years ago, it would certainly have been part of the puzzle."

In the comics, Henry Pym aka Ant-Man was a founding member alongside Iron Man, Thor, the Hulk and Wasp. Captain America joined the title in issue #4, However the film line-up doesn't include Wasp or Ant-Man, instead it will feature Hawkeye (Jeremy Renner) and Black Widow (Scarlett Johansson).

Feige also promised the death of one of the regular Marvel film characters in the upcoming Avengers Assemble, who that'll be is anyone's guess, thankfully we don't have long to wait.
