Joss Whedon for The Avengers
Fans rejoice! It is reported that Buffy The Vampire Slayer, Firefly and Dollhouse creator Joss Whedon has joined Louis Leterrier on the short-list for The Avengers.
For those of you that don't yet know, The Avengers are a super hero team lead by Captain America (Chris Evans) with a whole host of super heroes in its ranks including Iron Man (Robert Downey Jr.) and Thor (Chris Hemsworth).
"After some checking, insiders at Marvel Studios say no director has been signed yet but that Whedon was on the short-list and conversations took place," they say. Of course there are probably other directors on that list as well, so we'll have to wait and see which way they go.
If Whedon is signed up, it won't be the first time he works with Marvel, as he is a writer for the extremely successful Astonishing X-Men comic book series.
