Jennifer Westfeldt reveals people thought Friends with Kids wouldn’t happen

10 March 2012

Friends with Kids comes to cinemas in June and Jennifer Westfeldt who stars, wrote and directed the comedy has revealed that people thought she couldn't make Friends with Kids happen.

In the Lionsgate released comedy, two best friends named Julie and Jason (Westfeldt and Adam Scott) decide to become parents while keeping their relationship platonic and she tells The Hollywood Reporter "A lot people told us this was impossible and we couldn't do it, that we would never be able to do this on this low budget and in this amount of time."

Westfeldt started writing the script two years ago and had help from her friends to complete it with a table reading and shares "It had to be done so I did a few all-nighters and literally the copies of the script were printing as people were arriving, I was like madly highlighting and Jon (Hamm) was trying to get everyone a drink and we ended up reading it around our dining room table just casual with, like, pasta and wine."

Friends with Kids opens on June 29 and features Westfeldt with Megan Fox, Kristen Wiig, Chris O'Dowd, Maya Rudolph, Jon Hamm, Adam Scott and Edward Burns.
