ALEX MARCHI BACK IN TIME WITH RIDLEY SCOTT

Alex Marchi, Italian immigrant in London, now featuring in Ridley Scott’s new movie

Native Italian Actor Alex Marchi makes his Hollywood debut with “All the Money in the World” by Ridley Scott, nominated for three Golden Globes.

All the Money in the World, based on John Pearson's 1995 book Painfully Rich: The Outrageous Fortunes and Misfortunes of the Heirs of J. Paul Getty, is the story of the kidnapping of 16-year-old John Paul Getty III and the desperate attempt by his devoted mother to convince his billionaire grandfather Jean Paul Getty to pay the ransom. It stars Michelle Williams, Christopher Plummer, Mark Wahlberg, Romain Duris, Charlie Plummer, Andrew Buchan and Timothy Hutton.

Alex Marchi plays the part of the Newspaper Photo Editor of "Il Messaggero", the Roman newspaper where the severed ear of J. Paul Getty III arrives and where they try to convince the kid's grandpa and millionaire J. Paul Getty senior to pay the ransom.

“My role in the ensemble scene of the meeting room – says Marchi - was to inform Mrs Getty, played by Michelle Williams, of our intention to publish the picture of the ear: it came to us, it was news, so it was right for us to do that.

The set was a former Fiat concessionary, a huge building that looked like a hangar, on the famous Magliana way. To my surprise, my dressing room was right in front of the big stars’. I put on my costume, a quick stop for make-up and I was ready to start.

A couple of smooth rehearsals and the filming of the scene started. It was surreal: I looked around and suddenly realised what was about to happen…” (Alex Marchi)

Alex Marchi (born Alessandro Marchi in Bolzano, Italy) is trilingual in Italian, English and German.

After obtaining a degree in Pharmacy at the University of Padova he moved to England in 2011, where he started his acting career. He spent a year at the Bristol Acting Academy before training intensively for two years at Drama Studio London, graduating in 2015.

Since then, Alex has been working as a professional actor appearing in various productions such as the Mental Health Awareness commercial "Not A Red Card" starring rugby referee Nigel Owens, "Caravaggio: Between The Darkness" at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival, in which he played the title role of Caravaggio and Ridley Scott's movie "All The Money In The World".

Alex is also an actor-singer (baritone), a physical performer and an actor-combatant with a BASSC certification in Unarmed combat, Rapier and Dagger with distinction.

While working, Alex continues his training mainly focusing on improvisation and Lee Strasberg's Method.
