High School Musical heads to China

High School Musical is to get a Chinese makeover.

Disney are creating a Chinese version of the show, which will be called Disney High School Musical: China. The film tells the tale of a new student who teams up with one of her classmates to win a school singing competition.

Walt Disney's head of International Production, Jason Reed, said, "Our local team has done an amazing job and we are fortunate to be building on the Disney Channel's success by working with a world class cast and crew led by our producer Janet Yan and visionary director Shi Zheng Chen."

Filming on the movie has begun now.
