Oscar and BAFTA-winning British director ANDREA ARNOLD is heading to Cannes next month with her latest feature “American Honey” which will screen in competition in the Official Selection. Arnold previously won the Cannes Jury Prize for her features “Fish Tank” and “Red Road” and served on the festival’s competition jury in 2012.

A UK production, AMERICAN HONEY is Arnold’s first feature to film in the USA. It stars newcomer SASHA LANE together with SHIA LABEOUF, RILEY KEOUGH and a host of young actors making their onscreen debuts.

Star (Sasha Lane), a teenage girl from a troubled home runs away with a travelling sales crew that drives across the American mid-west selling magazine subscriptions door to door. Finding her feet in this gang of teenagers, one of whom is Jake (Shia LaBeouf), she soon gets into the group's lifestyle of hard partying, law-bending and young love.

Written and directed by ANDREA ARNOLD (“Wuthering Heights”, "Fish Tank", "Red Road") the film is produced by LARS KNUDSEN, JAY VAN HOY, POUYA SHAHBAZIAN, ALICE WEINBERG, THOMAS BENSKI, LUCAS OCHOA with cinematography by Arnold’s regular DOP, ROBBIE RYAN BSC, editing by JOE BINI, production design by KELLY MCGEHEE and costume design by ALEX BOVAIRD.

International sales for the film are handled by Protagonist Pictures. Production companies are Pulse Films and Parts & Labor; financing comes from Film4, BFI and Maven Pictures.

The 2016 edition of the Cannes International Film Festival runs from 11 to 22 May.
