Doctor Who alumni Karen Gillan nabs key role of Martha alongside Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson in Jake Kasdan’s JUMANJI
While she returns to her role of Nebula in the eagerly awaited Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 next April, it has been reported that sought after Doctor Who alumni Karen Gillan has landed a key role alongside Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson in Sony’s Jumanji.
The Jake Kasdan directed flick is set to begin production in Honolulu next month and Deadline report that the Scotland born Actress will play Martha, bringing to an end the search for the coveted role that involved some serious A-list talent.
Set for release on July 28, Scott Rosenberg and Jeff Pinkner wrote the most recent version of the script, based on draft by original writers Chris McKenna and Erik Sommers.
Based on the book by Chris Van Allsburg that received a film version back in 1995, starring Kirsten Dunst and the late Robin Williams, Jumanji is touted to be a sequel rather than a remake.
Matt Tolmach and William Teitler, are Producing with Kasdan, Johnson, Ted Field, Mike Weber, David Householter, Van Allsburg and Dany Garci serving as Executive Producers.
Gillan has Harris Goldberg’s The List, Ti West’s In a Valley of Violence ready for release and James Ponsoldt’s The Circle in post production. She also recently wrapped Collin Schiffli’s Indie Drama All Creatures Here Below and returns to Cinemas in the aforementioned Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 from filmmaker James Gunn.
