Conservatives in talks with Goldie Hawn over UK schools
15 February 2010
The Conservative party has met with Goldie Hawn over plans for independent state funded schools.
The Private Benjamin star's education charity The Hawn Foundation, which promotes Buddhist values, runs schools in the US and Canada. And Shadow Children's Secretary Michael Gove has spoken to Hawn's charity about the idea of running a state funded school in the UK.
He told The Daily Telegraph, "We are going to have another meeting to discuss how she might be able to help and influence education here.
"Some parents would want a rigorous traditional academic education for their children with desks neatly marshalled and traditional football. Others will want something that is more flexible, more imaginative."
