Colin Gerrard’s BAFTA and Oscar Nominee Eli a tale of Morality, Identity and Humanity to tour 2018’s Short Film Festivals

17 January 2018

Colin Gerrard, founder of 7 Colli Productions, has announced he will be touring the world’s most prestigious short film festivals to promote his latest production, Eli. If successful, this feat could result in over 110 awards, including BAFTA and Oscar victory.

Eli follows an elderly man (David Gant), who has survived harrowing events, and his encounters with a group of disillusioned strangers. A terrorist attack raises uncomfortable questions about immigration, identity and morality. Eli invites viewers to stop and think; can harrowing events torn from the past influence the future?

Gerrard highlights his belief in the short film as the most powerful genre for discussing such complex and conflicted themes, ‘the human condition still dictates that most people’s attention spans are 10-20 minutes. Sending a clear message in as short a time as possible, I believe, creates a stronger impact.’

7 Colli Productions have already made significant moves to spread Eli’s profound message around the world through its entry into 70 short film festivals. These include Portland, Rotterdam, Santa Barbara and Clermont-Ferrand International Film Festivals. Eli has also been accepted into New York City, Sedona, Cinequest, Tampere and The Martha’s Vineyard International Film Festivals. The coming weeks will see Gerrard entering Eli into Cannes, London and Venice Film Festivals in a bid to forge his short film’s identity on the world stage and qualify for BAFTA and OSCAR recognition in 2019.
