29 January 2019

The purpose of ITALIA DOC is to present the best of Italian contemporary documentaries to a London audience and all screenings (in Italian with English subtitles) are followed by Q&As with the film makers.
The series is curated by Dr.Cristina Massaccesi, Senior Teaching Fellow and Italian Language at UCL and Stefania Bochicchio, CEO of Infallible Productions and UK co-director of the International Theatre Institute.
The next screening will take place at the Bloomsbury Theatre and Studio on 19 February 2019 and it will be Hidden Pages (Pagine Nascoste) by director Sabrina Varani, who will fly from Italy to be present.

(synopsis For the first time, the author Francesca Melandri deals with the legacy of her father, a stern Fascist during the Mussolini period, but deemed to have revised his viewpoint after the end of the second world war.

For a long time, his past was censored from his family’s memory but, through research in Italy and Ethiopia, his daughter investigates and re-elaborates it for her new novel, as she also studies Italy’s repression of its violent colonial past.

An unexpected new narrative starts to emerge.....

Entry is free, but booking mandatory.
