Adam Nagaitis, who has garnered rave reviews for his scene stealing turn in AMC’s hit show The Terror has landed a starring role in five-part miniseries Chernobyl, the first production under HBO and Sky’s recently announced drama partnership.

Nagaitis will once again appear alongside previously announced Jared Harris and also with Emily Watson and Stellan Skarsgård. Written by Craig Mazin and directed by Johan Renck, Chernobyl dramatises the true story of one of the worst man-made catastrophes in history. The miniseries is set against the backdrop of the nuclear plant disaster that occurred in Ukraine in April 1986, revealing how and why it happened and telling the stories of those immediately impacted. Sister Pictures and the Mighty Mint are producing with Carolyn Strauss, Jane Featherstone and Craig Mazin serving as executive producers. Filming is underway in Lithuania and the show will air on HBO in the US, on Sky Atlantic and NOW TV in the UK and Ireland, and on Sky Atlantic in Italy, Germany and Austria.

Nagaitis plays ‘Cornelius Hickey’ in limited AMC series The Terror opposite Jared Harris and Tobias Menzies, based on the bestselling 2007 novel by Dan Simmons. The ten-episode, straight-to-series drama, which premiered in April, was written by David Kajganich and set in 1847, when a Royal Naval expedition crew searching for the Northwest Passage is attacked by a mysterious predator that stalks the ships and their crew in a suspenseful and desperate game of survival. Prior to this, in January, Nagaitis took on the role of Conductor ‘Jimmy’ in Jaume Collette-Serra’s thriller The Commuter with Liam Neeson and Vera Farmiga.

His other notable credits include: Suffragette, ’71 and The Inbetweeners 2 and critically acclaimed television productions: Sally Wainwright’s To Walk Invisible, Jimmy McGovern’s Banished and The BAFTA Award winning Happy Valley.

Nagaitis is represented by Curtis Brown in the UK and Management 360 in the US.
