Bees Nees Launches International Production Division Beezr Studios + appoint Award Winning Producer Paul Crompton as Creative Director
Award-winning producer Paul Crompton joins Beezr Studios as Creative Director and ex ITV Director of Television Simon Shaps is on board in a consultancy role.
Beezr’s focus will be on challenging and entertaining global audiences through high-quality, informative and authentic programming.
Beezr is heading to its inaugural MIPCOM with a diverse factual and format slate, looking to exploit rights internationally and seek co-production partnerships.
Scottish factual and format indie Bees Nees is launching Beezr Studios, a new production division to develop content for the international market, and has brought on board two preeminent television executives to its senior management team.
Award-winning producer Paul Crompton joins Beezr Studios as Creative Director and ex ITV Director of Television Simon Shaps is on board in a consultancy role to help drive the company’s international growth, forging broadcast partnerships and providing strategic counsel.
Crompton has previously held a number of high-profile commissioning and production posts at, amongst others, Channel 4, ITV and Sky One and has an extensive list of credits including Escape to the Chateau, BAFTA and Grierson nominated Timothy Spall: Somewhere at Sea and Iron Men, a fly on the wall documentary about West Ham's final season in East London. Working between the company’s Glasgow and London office, he will be responsible for executive producing Beezr shows, managing the company’s development slate and handling talent relationships.
Shaps, who has chaired the RTS and NFTS, and is also currently working as consultant on book-to-TV deals for the literary agency Capel Associates, will work with the new team to develop relationships with content partners around the world.

Spearheading the company’s slate is a raft of family focused factual formats - single documentaries following online stars and fitness enthusiasts, alongside factual series highlighting contemporary social issues. Beezr is also currently producing comedy and panel show pilots and will be announcing a number of commissions from its slate shortly.
