Antonio Banderas stars in action comedy GUN SHY as washed-up Rockstar in first Hollywood film funded by ‘equity’ crowdfunding
With the release of Gun Shy, the latest film from acclaimed director, Simon West (Con Air, Lara Croft: Tomb Raider, The Expendables) and stars Antonio Banderas, Olga Kurylenko and David Mitchell, Gun Shy is believed to be the first Hollywood Movie to be backed by ‘equity’ crowd funding. UK investors anxiously await their returns.
Such was the interest for the film, £1.8 Million was raised in five months on SyndicateRoom, back in 2014. The film’s director, Simon West, told the Mail On Sunday 'I’d like to do it again. I think it would be much easier because we have proved how well the model works.’
Gun Shy’s Producer, Harry Stourton was delighted with the success of this new method of crowd funding. "It's very challenging for independent movies to raise funding, so it's been great fun pioneering a new source of funding via equity crowd funding. I've been amazed by the support of the investors from the great British general public and its been wonderful interacting with them.”
