Antonio Banderas re-teams with Pedro Almodovar

06 May 2010

After twenty years, Antonio Banderas and Pedro Almodovar who last collaborated on 'Tie Me Up! Tie Me Down!' are set to re-team for 'La Piel que Habito' (translation: 'The Skin I Live In').

The film is loosely based on Thierry Jonquet's 1995 novel Mygale and will star Banderas as a plastic surgeon on the trail of the man who raped his daughter. "It's the harshest film I've ever written," Almodovar said this week. "And Banderas's character is brutal."

On the surface it's more obviously David Lynch territory than something we'd expect from Almodovar, but the director seems enthused by the idea of a film that's "close to the terror genre, but I won't respect any of its rules."

It'll be "a terror film without screams or scares", concludes Pedro. Which sounds like Platinum Dunes territory if you ask us.

Pedro says that he isn't worried about Antonio being different to work with, he says "He's exactly the same as when he left."
