Marvel Cinematic Universe Finds New Directors!

With Marvel’s eagerly awaited CAPTAIN MARVEL slated for release in March of 2019, and with Oscar winner Brie Larson set to be the title character of Captain Marvel aka Carol Danvers it has been announced that Mississippi Grind helmers Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck are onboard to Direct the super heroine!

Marvel announced Room’s Larson as the titular heroine last year at the end of San Diego Comic-Con and the superhero outing has been written by Inside Out scribe Meg LeFauve alongside Guardians of the Galaxy scribe Nicole Perlman.

Based on the Marvel comic books created by Gene Colan and Roy Thomas, CAPTAIN MARVEL follows Carol Danvers, an Air Force pilot whose DNA is fused with that of an alien during an accident. The resulting alteration imbues her with the superpowers of strength, energy projection, and flight.

There has been some fantastic Fan Art depicting Larson as Captain Marvel, complete with the iconic sash, we'll post the concept art that was shown off at the Marvel Studios Press Tour earlier this week when it becomes available, for now though, we'll revel in what could be.

Boden and Fleck have experience in both the TV and film world, which Marvel considers a strength having such credits as Ryan Gosling’s Half Nelson in 2006, Emma Roberts’ It's Kind of a Funny Story in 2010 and popular TV series The Affair and Billions.

Produced by Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige, CAPTAIN MARVEL is expected to hit Cinemas in March 2019 after the character debuts in Anthony and Joe Russo’s Avengers: Infinity War in 2018.
