Alba walks out at screening of own film

27 January 2010

Jessica Alba walked out during a screening of her controversial new movie.

The Killer Inside Me has prompted angry responses from audience members and critics after it premiered at the Sundance Festival recently, with many horrified over its depictions of violence towards women.

The Killer Inside Me is based on the notorious 50's novel by Jim Thompson, and tells the story of a psychotic Texas sheriff - played by Casey Affleck.

One controversial and very graphic scene sees the Sheriff beats up Alba's character to a bloody pulp.

Alba left halfway through the screening, which ended up with director Michael Winterbottom facing angry audience members at the Q and A session afterwards.

Defending himself, he said, "It's not the real world. It's kind of a parallel version of the real world. I was taken in by that world.

"Although there is a lot of violence in it and obviously there's a lot of violence directed towards women, there's also a lot of tenderness."
