English actor Naveen Andrews is best known to television audiences as Sayid, the savvy Iraqi in the series Lost. He grew up in London and studied drama at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama. After several stage productions, Andrews made his film debut in London Kills M (1991, directed by Hanif Kureishi). His big break came with the role of Kip, the sexy, hair-washing flame of Juliet Binoche’s character in The English Patient (1996, also starring Kristin Scott Thomas). Since then he has appeared in several television and film productions, and his role in Lost catapulted him to fame in both England and in the U.S., where he now makes his home. His other movies include Mighty Joe Young (1998, with Charlize Theron), Drowning on Dry Land (1999, with his real-life girlfriend, actress Barbara Hershey) and Rollerball (2002, with Rebecca Romijn-Stamos).
